Virginia -

In an interview in Richmond, Patch editors asked Governor Bob McDonnell (R) whether he intends to try to ban K2, a synthetic marijuana substitute of dubious legality in the state.

McDonnell said he is unsure whether current Virginia laws banning the creation of synthetic substitutes for narcotics apply to K2. He said he asked government employees to determine whether a new law is required to make the drug illegal.

At least one Virginia bill has already been filed for the new legislative session that would make possessing or distributing synthetic marijuanas like K2 illegal.
